Food Vendor Registration

Dear Food Vendor:

The Montclair African-American Heritage Foundation is proud to announce that we will be sponsoring the 35th Annual Parade and Festival on June 7th, 2025 with a rain date of June 8th, 2025 for the Festival.  The Parade will take place “rain or shine”.  The festival will begin at 1:00 P.M. at Nishuane Park, Montclair, NJ. 

At the festival, we will have vendor/exhibit space available for rent.  15ft wide x 12ft deepThere will be no electricity and vendors/exhibitors must furnish all equipment necessary for operation of their booths.  This includes tables, chairs, racks, stands, etc.  Vendors are limited to purchasing no more than two (2) spaces.  Set-up time will begin at 8:30 AM.  The fee for food vending spaces is $220.00 per space.

Step 1 - submit Application for Peddler License via Montclair Township

By the Township of Montclair’s rules, our Foundation cannot secure all licenses and permits for you as a Vendor.   Other applications and fees must be submitted to the proper departments of the Township of Montclair.

Step 2 - mobile vendors only

Mobile vendors operating in the Township of Montclair must have a Hood Suppression system and are required to have a Fire Safety Permit for the Hood Suppression System and the Open Flame/Propane. Click here to access the Fire Safety Permit Applications as well as the Inspection Checklist. Please complete all forms and email these to fireprevention@montclairnjusa.org as a scanned document, fax, or drop-off at their office at minimum two weeks prior to the event.  The cost of each Fire Safety Permit is $42.00, a total of $84.00, payable by check or money order to “Township of Montclair, LEA”. Payment is due upon passing the inspection, an inspection is preferred to be conducted prior to the event at the Montclair Fire Department at 1 Pine Street within enough time to abate any violation if found; if conducting the inspection on-site on the day of event and there should be a violation that is deemed a hazard, the food truck may not be able to operate.

Step 3 - all other vendors

All other vendors using Open Flame/Propane must complete the Application for Fire Safety Permit and either mail or drop-off the completed Application along with the payment of $42.00 at minimum two weeks prior to the event. Make payment by check or money order made payable to “Township of Montclair, LEA.”

If using a tent, the Certificate of Flame Retardant must be submitted with the Fire Safety Permit Application. There is NO COOKING UNDER A NON-FLAME RETARDANT TENT. Any tent that exceeds 30 feet on either side or a combination of tents that exceeds 30 feet on either side must obtain a permit, complete the Application for Fire Safety Permit and submit the Application along with the fee of $42.00 with in a minimum of two weeks prior by mail or dropped at our office. Make payment by check or money order made payable to “Township of Montclair, LEA.”

Step 4 - request additional support with forms if needed

If you require additional information on the permits, please call Joellen Green at 973-632-4088 between the hours of 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Please be advised that vendors may only occupy officially designated and assigned spaces.  Bring only the equipment and supplies that will fit in the 15' x 12' space.

Pushcarts will not be permitted to roam at the venue.  Vending carts must remain in an assigned space for the entire day.  The use of unregistered pushcarts will not be permitted.  

Step 4 - sign contract with MAAHF and pay registration fee

The final step in registering to sell food at the MAAHF Festival is to complete this digital contract and to purchase the registration fee via our online store. Please follow the directions carefully.

Note: Only twenty (20) spaces will be sold.  Spaces traditionally sell out quickly, so it is important that you act promptly if you desire to participate in this exciting celebration.
