Parade & Festival 〰️

Join the Festivities!

Step into a world of music, culture, and celebration at the vibrant community event known as the Montclair African-American History and Culture Parade and Festival. Established in 2014, this annual extravaganza pays homage to the rich heritage and contributions of African Americans in Montclair, NJ. The event begins with a lively parade that weaves its way through the town, showcasing colorful floats, marching bands, and dance troupes. Two distinguished individuals are appointed as Grand Marshals each year, adding an air of honor and reverence. Following the parade, the festivities continue in Nishuane Park, where the festival comes alive with live performances, art exhibitions, delicious food, and activities for all ages. This immersive experience brings the community together to celebrate the legacy and accomplishments of the African-American community, fostering unity and appreciation for their profound impact on Montclair's history and culture.

Parade Route

Join us at 10:30 am when the parade begins on the corner of Maple Avenue and Bloomfield Avenue in Montclair. Then, the parade will turn left onto Bloomfield Avenue, headed towards Elm Street. Next, the parade will turn left on Elm Street and proceed to Orange Road. Once the parade reaches Cedar Avenue, it will pass Cedar Avenue the first time and veer right onto Orange Road towards the South End Gardens to visit our senior residents. The parade will then go around the bend, turning left onto Orange Road towards Cedar Avenue again. Finally, the parade will turn left onto Cedar Avenue, where the Grand Stand and Battle of the Bands will take place.

Immediately after the parade stops, there will be a Battle of the Bands between four New Jersey high school marching bands!

Festival

The Festival will begin at 1:00 pm and will feature all of the community favorites, including food and merchandise vendors, a game truck, a family area with bouncy houses, and more!
